Published April 2015

ASHBURNHAM – Gloria J. (Piercy) Olivari passed away Friday, April 10th at Heywood Hospital, after being stricken ill at home, with her family by her side.

Gloria was born in Baldwinville MA on May 21, 1925 youngest daughter of William J. Piercy and Annie S. (Premo) Piercy.

She married Arthur A. Olivari in 1952 and together they raised five boys and shared 27 years of happiness before his sudden passing in 1980.

Gloria was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Anne’s parish in South Ashburnham for over 56 years. When her health prevented her from attending mass at church she watched it every day on TV.

She worked at GEM Crib for many years until she met Arthur and started a family. She was the bookkeeper for her husband’s business (Olivari Electric) and later worked at the S. Ashburnham post office and Saint Anne’s rectory.

Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend and will always be remembered for her sharp mind and wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed baking, reading, bingo, movies, scratch tickets and had been known to enjoy a good donut or two on occasion.

She will be sadly missed by her five sons and their families: Joseph and Anne Olivari of Ashburnham, Mark and Lynn (Toni) Olivari of Templeton, David and Karen Olivari of Gardner, John Olivari and Mark St. Laurent of Fitchburg, and Matthew and Julie Olivari of Ashburnham, 9 grandchildren: Michelle, Jacob, Christine, Jason, Melanie, Brandi, Sam, Tony and Vanessa and 7 great grandchildren, as well a large extended family who were so good to her over the years.

She was predeceased by one grandson, Benjamin Olivari in 1985 and her five sisters, Mildred Couture, Bernice Whitney, Dorothy Deery, Hazel White and Eunice Fuller.

Per Gloria’s request there will be no calling hours.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Anne’s Church, 162 Center St. South Ashburnham, on Friday, April 17, at 11:30AM. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, West St., in Gardner.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Compassionate Care ALS, P.O. Box 1052 West Falmouth, MA 02574.
