SOUTH YARMOUTH — Carol A. (Schmiederer) McCracken-Barry, 62 of South Yarmouth died peacefully at her home Saturday March 29, 2014, surrounded by love, after a long and courageous battle with ALS.
She was the loving and adored wife of Michael K. Barry.
Born in Cambridge, Carol graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Kingston in 1970. She later went on to earn a Medical Assistant Degree from Cape Cod Community College and worked for 16 years at the Yarmouth Medical Center.
Carol was passionate about helping others and making a difference. Her spiritual inspiration touched people everywhere. She was known for her kind and gentle soul.
In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by a daughter, Sarah Steidinger and her husband, Eric; a son, Scott McCracken and his wife Emily of Burlington, VT; a sister, Susan Biscoe and her husband, Tom of Dennisport; a brother, Richard Kerns of Washington, ME; two grandchildren, Calvin Steidinger and Molly McCracken; her aunt and uncle, Bob and Eileen Moore; a niece, Erin Biscoe; a nephew, Tom Biscoe, Jr.; her beloved dog, Louie; her wonderful cousins; and network of earth angels.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday April 2 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.
Interment will be private.
A gathering and celebration of her life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday April 27 in the Yarmouth Moose Lodge, Rte. 28, South Yarmouth.
