Carol Clancy, age 66, of Fairfield, the devoted wife and best friend of the late Terrence (Terry) Patrick Clancy for over 40 years, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital surrounded by her loving children.
Born in Springfield, OH to the late Robert and Jane Bennett, Carol was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of 1978, and Saint Mary’s College, class of 1982. It was there she met her husband, Terry, and they married shortly thereafter.
Carol was an English teacher and traveled the world with her family and lived for periods of time in Japan, Singapore, and England before settling in her husband’s hometown of Fairfield. She had an unceasing wit and lived with an open heart. Her incredible generosity led her to be involved in numerous charitable causes including the National Down Syndrome Society and the Evergreen Network, and she regularly volunteered her time at her children’s schools and at St. Pius X Church.
She had a keen sense of fashion and a beautiful singing voice. Along with her husband, she was always a huge supporter of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the New York Giants, and the New York Mets.
Carol took great pride and pleasure in being a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was an incredible cook and always served her dishes with love. Carol loved nothing more than spending quality time with her family.
Carol is predeceased by her husband, Terry, and her brothers, William Bennett and James Bennett. She is survived by her loving children, John (Claire) Clancy, Emma (Daniel) Carter, Coleman (Kate) Clancy, and Anne Clancy; her cherished grandchildren, Patrick Clancy, Eliza Carter, Zoe Clancy, and Rory Clancy; her three sisters, Susan Baker, Julie Bennett, and Barbara Sanderson; her brother, Thomas Bennett; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to greet her family on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Church on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with internment to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
