With profound love and sadness, we announce the passing of Margaret “Marge” Mary Baudo, who left this world on July 29, 2026, at the age of 81. Margaret was born on April 8, 1945, in Queens, New York and grew up in Queens Village where the foundation of her remarkable life began.
Margaret was a lifelong learner with an endless curiosity about the world. She graduated from St. Pascal’s High School and earned her teaching degree from St. Joseph’s College for Women. Her passion for learning and helping others continued throughout her life, and she later returned to school to earn her RN degree from Nassau Community College.
Her nursing career was a true reflection of her compassionate heart. Margaret worked as a nurse in the maternity ward at Mercy Hospital, where she found great joy caring for new mothers and especially the babies she loved so much. She later continued her nursing career at Mitchell Field, caring for military families with the same dedication, warmth, and compassion that defined her. Nursing was more than a profession for Margaret — it was a calling and a way for her to make a difference in the lives of others.
Marge shared a beautiful life with her husband and true soulmate, Frank Baudo, her partner of more than 30 years. Together, they embraced life with love, laughter, and a shared sense of adventure. They explored the world side by side — whether riding on the back of a motorcycle, sleeping in a tent in Africa, snowmobiling in their PA home aptly named “sheer pleasure” or golfing in Florida. Marge and Frank created memories that reflected their curiosity, courage, and joy in experiencing all that life had to offer.
Family was the center of Marge’s world. She was a devoted mother who gave her children a foundation built on love, encouragement, and unconditional support. She was also a grandmother who truly embraced the magic of being “Nana.” She showered her grandchildren with love, new experiences, and unforgettable memories. Days at Nana’s became treasured lasting memories, moments filled with laughter, discovery, and the unmistakable feeling of being loved.
During her years in nursing, Marge formed lifelong friendships that became some of her greatest treasures. She lovingly referred to her special group of friends as “The Posse.” These friendships were filled with laughter, support, shared experiences, and the kind of bond that grows stronger over time. They were a beautiful reflection of Marge’s ability to create meaningful connections wherever she went.
Marge truly had the “gift of the gab.” Meeting new people and learning about their lives was one of her greatest joys. She could turn a stranger into a friend with a conversation, a laugh, and a genuine interest in their story. Her ability to make people feel seen and appreciated was one of the many qualities that made her unforgettable.
She had a special way of making holidays magical. She understood that the greatest gifts were the traditions and memories created together. She filled her family’s lives with moments they will cherish forever — stringing popcorn for the Christmas tree, watching holiday movies together, creating homemade costumes, and endless Nana scavenger hunts that turned ordinary days into extraordinary adventures.
Marge found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved a good summer storm, the birds visiting her birdfeeders, quiet mornings with coffee on the porch, walks to the dock, and enjoying a really good slice of pizza. She had a beautiful ability to appreciate the everyday moments that made life meaningful.
She was a creative soul who found joy in making things beautiful and she inspired others to do so. Marge loved gardening, crafting, sewing, and restoring furniture, always seeing the possibility and beauty hidden within something old or overlooked. Her creativity reflected the way she lived — with patience, imagination, care, and appreciation for the little things.
Margaret is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Frank Baudo; her loving children: Beth Skinner and her husband Kevin of Dennisport, MA; Maureen Nelson and her husband Michael of Westborough, MA; her daughter-in-law Cheryl Cunningham of Canton, MA; Michael Baudo and his wife Traci of Seaford, NY; and Kevin Baudo and his wife Jennifer of Wantagh, NY.
She was recently predeceased by her loving son, Michael Cunningham. His memory remains forever woven into the story of her life and the love she carried for him.
She was the cherished Nana to Dylan, Emma, Samantha, Tyler, Sean, Ryan, Nicole, and Katelyn. The love, laughter, traditions, and lessons she shared with them will remain a treasured part of their lives forever. She inspired her grandchildren to stay curious, embrace new experiences, to travel to see the world, and continue growing at every age.
Margaret is also survived by her beloved brother, Bill Cody, and sister-in-law, Linda Mitchell, of Eureka, CA.
Margaret will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit will continue to live on through the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched.
Visiting Hours
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Margaret’s life and share memories during visiting hours on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Dalton Funeral Home, Williston Park, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be considered in Margaret’s memory to Compassionate Care ALS, an organization that supports individuals and families facing these challenges.
