Laurence P. Harrington, 59, a resident of Hingham and formerly Framingham, died Wednesday, September 17, 2025, after a brief battle with Bulbar ALS. Born in Framingham, he was the son of Evelyn (Daniels) Harrington, and the late Laurence Harrington, and the beloved husband of Suzanne (Robinshaw) Harrington.
Larry was raised and educated in Framingham. A graduate of Framingham North High School, where he played basketball, lacrosse and soccer. He went on to graduate from UMass Amherst with a degree in History, also playing lacrosse though he never enjoyed being the center of attention. Over the years, he had many landscaping jobs, and as a keen observer of the world, he wrote for a local newspaper in Provincetown and covered town meetings, he then ultimately landed at Arbortech Tools, USA in Pembroke as their Inside Sales Manager.
Hilarious with a sharp wit and dry humor, Larry was a brilliant, creative soul who enjoyed writing (he had been working on a book for 10 years), and history. He loved all Boston sports teams, and his college teams, UMass, Harvard and Boston College. He enjoyed golfing with his Framingham crew, dabbling in woodworking, creating the River Bar that he built in his backyard, his fire pit and music on a cool fall night, boating and sunset cruises in Hingham harbor all brought Larry bliss, but nothing more so than dancing in the kitchen with his wife and seeing his family and childhood friends.
Besides the love of his life Suzanne, and his mother, Evelyn, Larry is survived by his step daughter Heather Rose, his grandchildren, Camden and Meadowsweet Rose, his step son Thomas R. Bird & his wife Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bird, and his sisters, Evelyn R. Goodspeed and Elizabeth Munroe along with their husbands, his mother in law, Norma J. Robinshaw, and his brother in law, Andrew J. Robinshaw, and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Along with his father, Larry was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Amy E. Cloutier.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Larry’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the Cushing Memorial Chapel, 60 Dudley Road, Framingham, on Friday morning, October 3rd from 9-10:45AM. His Funeral Service will begin at 11 o’clock. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s name to Compassionate Care ALS, www.ccals.org.
