Mary Eileen (Hurley, Doyle) Mealey, affectionately known as Mimi, a resident of Canton, GA, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, with her sons, Jay and Kevin, by her side.
Born in Holyoke, MA, Mimi was the daughter of the late Eileen M. and Edwin H. Hurley, Sr. She attended Holyoke schools, graduating from Hlyoke High School. Upon graduation from Regis College in Weston, MA, Mimi returned to Holyoke where she taught elementary education. Each and every one of her students loved “Miss Hurley”!
Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Frank Doyle, and moved to Schenectady, NY, where Mimi and Frank welcomed Jay and Kevin and lived a storybook family life together. Unfortunately, Frank passed away unexpectedly leaving a wonderful legacy but also immense sorrow. Through the strength of her faith, Mimi continued Frank’s legacy with her sons by her side.
By the grace of God, Carroll Mealey came into Mimi’s life bringing joy and love along with his five children. Mimi and Carroll soon married and the Doyle-Mealey families became a winning team. Carroll, however, was called home to God and once again, Mimi, with her strong faith and supportive family, continued on as only she could do.
To know Mimi was to love her. She was absolutely beautiful – inside and out. She was classy, kind, thoughtful, witty, a sports enthusiast extraordinaire…an endless list of superlatives. To anyone who knew her, it was obvious that her mantra was FAITH, FAMILY and FRIENDS.
Her devotion to Our Lady, the Blessed Mother Mary, was unmatched. Her family was her world and she cherished the many friends she made along life’s way with her charming personality and infectious smile.
It was in her final days that Mimi’s FAITH, along with her STRENGTH and COURAGE, were most evident. She was extremely well prepared to return home to see the face of God. What a legacy to leave to all who knew and loved her!
In addition to her parents, Mimi was predeceased by her husbands, John F. Doyle, Jr. and Carroll J. Mealey, her brother, Edwin H. Hurley, Jr., her daughter-in-law, Karen Lang Doyle, and her niece, Cathleen A. Nally and Cathleen’s husband, John J. Nally.
Mimi is survived by her son, John F. Doyle, III, his partner, Michele C. Brodie and his daughters, Anna F. and Emma E. Doyle; her son, Kevin H. Doyle and his sons, Ryan F, and Matthew L. Doyle; her sister Anne-Marie Sullivan, her brother-in-law, Michael P. Sullivan, Sr.; her sister-in-law Carol D. Hurley; her nephew Edwin H. Hurley, III (Sue); her niece Katherine Sullivan Morgan (William), her nephew Michael P. Sullivan, Jr. (Jennifer) and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mimi is also survived by her stepchildren: Colleen Geary (Harold), Kathleen Ventura (John), Gail Quinn (Brian), John Mealey (Amy) and Michael Mealey. Mimi also leaves behind many loving friends.
