HARWICH — Robert S. Bossman, 83, Harwich resident, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.
He leaves his loving wife of 60 years, Marie Shirley (Spires); seven children: Kathleen Ryan and her husband Kevin of Gettysburg, Pa., Robert Jr. of Denver, Colo., Brian and his wife Brenda of Littleton, Mass., Patrick and his wife Vanessa of Brandon, Fla., Jean of Lancaster, Pa., Victoria Pirozzoli and her husband David of Carlisle, Pa., and Cynthia Pioli and her husband Derek of Bellingham, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Colleen Shepard of London, Ontario; and a brother, Howard of Wadsworth, Ohio. Bob was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., on Aug. 27, 1930, son of the late Carl and Ruth (Warner) Bossman, and lived in Redding, Conn., from 1967 to 1997, when he moved to Harwich. From his retirement to 2011, Bob and his wife loved spending winters in The Villages in Lady Lake, Fla.
Bob graduated from Clark University, was a certified public accountant and had a long accounting and finance career. The last 20 years of his career was with Homequity Inc. of Wilton, Conn., where he retired as the vice president of finance. He was a respected member of the business community and was listed in the Who’s Who of Finance and Industry.
He enjoyed golf, bowling and tennis over the years and sang in the church choir. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War.
Bob was very devoted to his Catholic faith, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Harwich, Mass. Most important, he loved his family and enjoyed hosting family reunions and gatherings.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, in Holy Trinity Church, 246 Route 28, West Harwich, Mass. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich Center.
