Paula Diane Graves, 78, of Litchfield, NH, passed away at home with loved ones by her side on December 15, 2024. Born in Lynn, MA, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Pauline (Stanley) Colbath.
Paula spent her younger years living in Massachusetts, the oldest of seven children. After her parents passed away, she and her siblings were separated and raised in foster care, with Paula moving to New Hampshire. She spent her later teens and twenties trying to make sure the family stayed together, organizing outings and staying in constant contact. Paula worked many different jobs including stints at American Textile and as Activities Coordinator at the Hunt Community in Nashua. She retired from the Sisters of Mercy in Windham, where she worked as a receptionist.
Paula was a longtime resident of the Southern New Hampshire area. After retirement, she served as a volunteer with the Nashua Senior Center. She was a social butterfly and led a very active social life. Paula loved to be involved and helped run the activities board in her senior living community. She enjoyed going on trips with the Nashua and Hudson senior centers.
Paula cherished her relationships with family and friends and often sent handwritten cards to everyone she knew, and sometimes even to people she didn’t, in the form of letters and care packages to lonely nursing home residents. She had a large postage stamp budget and the USPS will surely miss her. Paula was such a kind and warm person. Her love was exemplified in her interactions with the people close to her and with total strangers. She always took the time. She was never too rushed to care for others. She made everyone feel special. She was a caretaker to the core.
Paula is survived by her twin children, Trina Seese and Brent Graves; her bonus son, Matt Brown; her grandchildren, Zoe and Lucas Seese, and Scarlet, Cassie; and her siblings, Paul “Bob” Colbath and his wife Linda, Peter Colbath and his wife Barbara, Philip Colbath and Pamela Friend. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Preston Colbath and Paulette “Betsy” Joki and her grandson Troy Graves.
A memorial get together is being planned for the end of January and details will be announced soon. We’d love to see you all and hear your Paula stories.
