It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our father John Brand Jr. 80 of East Falmouth on February 19th, 2024.

John was born on November 27, 1943, in Fort Benning, Georgia to the late Wilma and Army Lieutenant Colonel John R. Brand Sr. John served in the Army Reserves and worked as a meat manager at Stop and Shop for over 50 years.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life of 54 years, Janet Brand, as well as his son John Raymond Brand III. He leaves behind his daughter Deborah Seale, daughter-in-law Catherine Brand, daughter Lauri Thompson, son-in-law Donald Thompson II, son Todd Brand, and daughter-in-law Joy Brand. He also leaves behind his lifelong friends Blanche and Dick Doolin, and Linda Cowie. John is survived by his beloved grandchildren Amanda, Donny III, Johnny IV, Noelle, Sara, Benjamin, Abigail, Owen, and Ava.

John found joy in the simple pleasures in life, like early morning fishing on the pond with his best friend Dick. He enjoyed many cruises to Bermuda and other islands with family and friends . A sentimental man, he spent countless hours compiling family photos into short slideshows set to music for his kids and grandkids to reminisce. Later in his retirement he found a love for cooking and trying out new recipes. A true new Englander, he loved the Boston Red Sox & the New England Patriots.

He embodied the best qualities of unconditional love, strength, and unending generosity and care for his family.

Our dad was a true gentleman, but also a quick-witted jokester who loved a good conversation or friendly debate. He made friends wherever he went and enjoyed making his loved ones laugh. As Dad would tell us, loudly and often- ”I have lived a charmed life. I raised four great kids who raised wonderful grandchildren. What more could a guy ask for?“

A graveside service will be held at St. Anthony’s in Falmouth on Monday, February 26th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CCALS in memory of his late wife Janet https://ccals.org/donate/?donateto=14389
