Edward James Dole Jr. (Eddie) of Abington, MA passed away September 9 th, 2023 after a courageous fight with ALS. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1938 and was the husband of the late Joanne (Barbara) Dole whom he loved wholeheartedly.
He is survived by his four children: Brian Dole (wife Tracy) of Kingston, MA; Stephen Dole of Abington, MA; Julianne Murphy (husband Stephan) of Kingston, MA, and Kevin Dole (wife Nadia) of Vergennes, VT. Beloved Papa to Ashley Dole, Olivia and Matthew Dole, Alyssa Fonseca, Katie and Patrick Murphy and Poet Dole. He is also great grandfather to Gabby and Ava.
He was the son of the late Edward and Eileen Dole of Bellingham, MA. and the brother of sisters Kathleen Dooley (late brother-in-law Bill) and Rosemary Dole (brother-in-law Joe), as well as his nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a friend to many.
He graduated from Don Bosco in 1956 as class salutatorian, he proudly served in the US Army and worked at the MBTA for 32 years in Local Union 717.
Eddie enjoyed wood working, bird watching and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Thursday September 14, from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral will be held Friday September 15 at 9:45AM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel followed by a funeral Mass at St Bridget Church, Abington at 10:30 AM. A burial will follow at St. Patrick’s cemetery, Rockland.
