CCALS Board Member Holly Ladd was diagnosed with ALS in 2012 and received services from CCALS. She had a book of her blogs published posthumously. Prior to her death with ALS in 2014, Holly greatly assisted CCALS in providing strategic direction working with Executive Director Ron Hoffman as well as with the Board and Staff. Holly bequeathed the library at the CCALS Education and Retreat Center in her will.
Holly’s book of blogs is called Whose Idea Was This? ALS As The New Normal. After her diagnosis, Holly a no-nonsense lawyer, high-powered executive and civil rights activist made short work of putting her affairs in order. Holly then made a second, more unusual decision: to write a series of blogs chronicling the ensuing 24 months until her death in 2014. The result is this book: neither weepy nor romanticized, but a flinty, funny, reflective and surprising journal of her exterior reality and her interior life. It is a remarkable document created by an original mind.
The book is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
