I am running the 130th Boston marathon in honor of my Dad, David, who passed away from ALS in 2024. I moved home to be a close support to my dad and our family as the course of ALS progressed.
I am a university student studying computer science, and I enjoy traveling, tinkering, scuba diving, and running. I am privileged to be running for Compassionate Care ALS to support critical services and access to support for people with ALS and their families. Many of you know that my Dad, brother Nat, and I ran the Falmouth road race for CCALS in 2023.
My Dad managed the course of his disease with an amazingly positive outlook. He was very physically active despite his ALS and continued fencing and running for over a year and a half after his diagnosis. He continued to do the things he loved: listening to music at home and out with friends, and found new communication technology to stay connected with his very supportive network of friends and family. His perseverance, outlook and stubbornness are why I am running. He motivated me to run my first marathon, and I am running again to honor him. I am dedicated and happy to support CCALS, which helped our whole family in many ways throughout the progression of his disease. Please help me raise essential funds for Compassionate Care ALS.
