Ricardo R. Matos-Figueroa, 38, died July 8 at his home in Wareham unexpectedly.

Born in Plymouth, he was the son of Salvador Matos-Figueroa and Paula Cabral-Matos. Ricardo was a graduate of Wareham High School, Class of 1997. He excelled in athletics playing baseball, basketball and football. Out of the top 50 baseball players in Wareham, he ranked number 18.

Ricardo worked as a residential counselor in Carver.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his children, Toriana R. Bunting-Figueroa of Wareham, Jace Cabral-Figueroa of Plymouth, and Nolan James O’Connor of Wareham; and his brother, Tino Cabral and his wife Lenora Cabral of Cheshire, Connecticut; his nephew, Arman Cabral; his longtime companion, Kelly Amaral of Plymouth; his aunts, Lolly Hayes and MaryLou Cabral both of Wareham along with many cousins and close friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Thursday, July 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. Interment will be private.
