Mary-Alena Friedman (McLaughlin), age 52, of Plymouth, passed away October 4, 2011 at her home in Plymouth. She was the loving wife of Howard Friedman, and proud mother to Ellis Abe, and Shayna Rose of Plymouth. Daughter of the late Red and Mary McLaughlin of Brighton, birth daughter of Barbara Shick of Rockport. Also daughter-in-law of Claire and Bernie Friedman of Palm Desert, California, and Step Daughter of Ramona Lynch of Plymouth. Sister to Victoria Nix of Maryland, Johnny McLaughlin of New Hampshire, Jason Lynch of Taunton, Jimmy O’Leary of Wareham, and the late Skip McLaughlin. She also leaves her “BFF” Carolyn Wright of Marshfield, and many wonderful friends and family members.

Mary-Alena retired from Verizon after 20 years of service. Her favorite times were spending quality time with her family and friends. She loved the summer months, flowers, the beach and the countryside. A favorite pastime was shopping at home goods. Her greatest accomplishments were being a mom to Ellis and Shayna, striking gold in California where she found her love, Howard, and searching for and locating her birth family. She wishes to thank her friends for the best times. Her request is to reconcile with loved ones, because thats the only thing that really matters; Love!

Cremation will take place at the Vine Hills Crematory in Plymouth. Friends may call at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St. Plymouth on Sunday October 9, 2011 from 4:00 till 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 pm, following the wake. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations be made to Compassionate Care ALS, www.ccals.org , the ALS association.
