Barbara (Hapenney) Mahoney, 87, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2015 after a long journey with ALS.

She is survived by her devoted husband Edward. They were married for 67 years. She will be missed by her children Ed (Mary), Neal (Laura), David, Sally and John (Kelly). Her siblings are Phyllis Harrington, Jean Roche, James Hapenney (Pat) and the late Tom Hapenney. Barbara was the grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of four, and had many dear nieces and nephews.

She was the oldest of the five children of Thomas F. and Irene Hapenney. She attended school in Waltham, MA, meeting Ed in the fifth grade. They raised their family in Sudbury, Chatham, and Cary, IL. She has been loved and cherished by family, friends, neighbors and caregivers for many years. She was known for her quiet faith, strength, and care for others. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday June 11 at noon at Holy Redeemer Church, Chatham, preceded by visitation in the church starting at 11 AM. Interment will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 1:15 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. All are welcome.
