Obituary: Armando Porrazzo

Published April 2018

Armando Porrazzo, a native of Bonefro Italy, and longtime resident of Maynard and Acton, passed away at 89 years old on Thursday, April 26th, 2018. He was a friend to all and to any one in need.

After moving to America with his late father and mother, Vincent and Maria Porrazzo and his five siblings, Armando played football for Maynard High School. He served honorably in the US Army and fought in the Korean Conflict. He opened the area’s first pizza shop, called Armando’s, in West Acton Village and then an Italian Restaurant in South Acton, also called Armando’s. He loved to cook, and his lasagna was infamous. He also owned and operated Acton Maynard Taxi for many years.

He is the husband to the late Lorraine Porrazzo, loving father to the late Laurie Pacy and the late Madeline Hudson, dear grandfather of the late Amanda Hudson. He is survived by his longtime girlfriend Mary Mullen; his sons Vincent, Armand and Daniel Porrazzo; daughter in-law Diane McQueen; his grandchildren, Mark, Nathan, Angeline, Lawrence and Lorraine; his great-grandson, Liam; and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his brothers Peter, Nicola and Alexander Porrazzo, and his sisters Mary Arcieri and Josephine Phaneuf.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Thursday, May 3rd at 1:00pm in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Central Street, West Acton. Because of the devastating effects of ALS within the family and the greater ALS community, in lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be made in his name to Compassionate Care ALS, PO Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574, also online ccals.org.
