ARMSTRONG, Richard D. Jr, Esq. Died after a long and valiant battle with ALS, Friday, September 21, 2012. He was 66 years old.

Born in Chelsea and raised in Milton, he was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School, Boston College and Boston College Law School. He received a masters degree in Labor Law from Georgetown University School of Law.

Mr. Armstrong was an active participant in church and community organizations. As a Knight of Justice in the Sovereign Order of Malta, he was committed to aiding the poor and the sick and led pilgrimages to Lourdes for adults from the Boston area. Richard was actively involved in major fundraising for Catholic Charities. He served in a number of positions in the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, the oldest chartered military organization in the Western Hemisphere. While Captain, he travelled extensively with other members of the organization. Richard was the proud President of the USO New England for over ten years and in 2010 was named President Emeritus of the organization. He also enjoyed singing with the Clover Club of Boston.

Son of the late Amelia G. and Richard D. Armstrong. Loving brother of Patricia R. Armstrong and Kathleen E. Armstrong, both of Milton and Mary Armstrong Piona of Fairhaven. Uncle of Caitlin A. Piona and Gregory A. Piona. Brother-in-law of Charles J. Piona, Jr.

Funeral from the Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Ave., MILTON VILLAGE, on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 3-8pm at the Funeral Home. Interment Milton Cemetery.
