The Angel Fund and Compassionate Care ALS are two nonprofit organizations that each uniquely address all aspects of ALS. They have partnered together to keep the momentum of the Ice Bucket Challenge going strong by joining forces with ChillaVino, a non-ice ice bucket!
The Ice Bucket Challenge, which put ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in the global spotlight thanks to the social media phenomenon, helped create awareness for research and care for those living with the disease. ALS is a progressive, always fatal neuromuscular disease that leads to muscle weakness and often results in total paralysis and the inability to speak and swallow while the mind and senses often remain intact. There is currently no effective treatment or cure.
ChillaVino is an innovative new bottle display and chilling device that eliminates the need for ice, water and still maintains the ideal serving temperature. Chillavino will contribute $5 through these two organizations for each ChillaVino purchased through designated campaigns.
The first campaign which launches via KickStarter on May 18, 2015 and will feature a ChillaVino Challenge performed by Chrissy Eblin. Supporters can pledge to buy the product and support ALS at the same time. The goal is to raise $500,000 for ALS and that’s still just a drop in the bucket! Be the first to have this exciting new product and support these amazing organizations.

A note to editors:
The Angel Fund For ALS Research
Founded by the late Ginny DelVecchio in 1998, The Angel Fund is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to supporting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) research at the Cecil B. Day Laboratory for Neuromuscular Research at UMass Medical Center in Worcester under the direction of world-renowned ALS researcher, Dr. Robert H. Brown, Jr.
Dr. Brown and the UMass Gene Therapy Center are working on exciting cutting-edge research using gene therapy to silence ALS genes. It’s the Angel Fund’s goal to bring the research to human trials as quickly as possible.
Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS)
While most of the attention is focused on finding a cure, often overlooked are those living and coping with the debilitating effects of ALS. Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS) is a nonprofit organization that offers individualized support to those families impacted by ALS.
CCALS offers a variety of resources, such as informative workshops, trauma and grief support, equipment and living aid subsidies and even a handicapped accessible van program. For these families and their care givers, it’s this support system that allows them to live and cope with the effects of ALS. CCALS is committed to better equipping patients to face end-of-life issues with dignity and peace, while bringing comfort to their families.
