BU and BC Hockey Alums raise $55K in 2nd Annual Comm Ave Charity Classic

Two storied hockey programs, one mission.

Alums from the Boston College and Boston University hockey teams met on the ice for the Second Annual Comm Ave Charity Classic, raising money for “Compassionate Care ALS” and the Travis Roy Foundation. Walter Brown Arena, the former home of BU Hockey, hosted the event.

A number of people from both universities have been touched by ALS, so tonight’s game was played in memory of Dick Kelley, Coach Jim Cotter, Ron Perryman and Richard Armstrong. The game was also played in honor of former BC baseball captain Pete Frates, who’s currently battling ALS, and former BU hockey player Travis Roy, who was paralyzed during his first shift with Terriers in 1995.

FOX25 Sports Intern Bridgette Proulx spoke with some of the players, including former Eagles Jimmy Hayes and Brian Leetch and former Terrier Charlie Coyle.
